Reversing the Light

Hello,

In Taoism there is an expression that says ''reversing the Light''. This expression can be found in many books among the famous book translated in English: The secret of the golden flower.

The technique of reversing the Light is pretty simple and is the essence of all spirituality.

When looking at an object there is a ray of light coming into your eyes. Instead of looking at the object reverse the light and be aware of who is looking.

As simple as that to realize Who you are.

Enjoy!

Hey Legrand!

Great coincidence, I think I figured it out just last week.
When in Samadhi trance, I could project my awareness out of body. Then, as you state, the trick was to reverse the awareness along that same path to look within me. And it worked!

Thanks!

Gee, I never heard this particular phrase.
Of course, what the phrase actually means is very common. Yup

Oddly, when I was 5 yrs old, ah, I remember everything about the scene:
My mind was suddenly 'altered' and from inside me, behind my eyes
I experienced this, (to a 5yr old 'this person', an adult male feeling), looking out of my eyes
witnessing everything in a 'neutral, unemotional, non-judgey ' place.
I had another consciousness in there ...and it was no 5 Year Old!

At 8 yrs old, my 'altered states' really took hold. (That one I was shown everything our eyes see is fake, unreal, made of dreamstuff.)
Explanation? - I was probably a devotee, meditator in past lives.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

I think we all experience out of normal things when we are young, and then we forget everything as we age, a bit like our dreams that we mostly forget ... unless we do meditation (and maybe other things).

Thank you Sky,

They added a nice picture in chapter four of this internet version of the secret of the golden flower.

Just love it, the language of the birds...
