Covid - remembering those who were taken away

This is a piece telling the story of some who have died from Covid. I hope everyone will continue to take it seriously.

The stories are seemingly never-ending. So many have died. The figures are shocking.

Every death is a tragedy, many passing swiftly and unexpectedly, leaving families and friends numb and traumatised. Many may not come to terms with what happened.

We should pray this world learns from what's happened and that we'll be better prepared for the next pandemic.

Hopefully some good will come out of this.

I recently talked to a Registered Nurse and what I see as good coming out of this is that Emergency Rooms' waiting rooms will no longer be incubators for contagious diseases.

We must hope that there are widespread improvements in healthcare delivery in all developed countries.

Here in the UK there's considerable concern that medical staff are still wearing PPE of too low a specification.

Additionally - something that baffles me - is that little has been said about the need for better ventilation of everywhere there could be potentially infected individuals. It's well known that tiny virus particles get breathed out by anyone infected. Unless there is good air extraction - air not being recirculated - those particles may travel much further than droplets from coughs and or sneezes. These may not be filtered out by masks that are too low a grade leaving medical staff on long shifts at greater risk.

Equally importantly all public buildings ought to have air extraction rather than recirculation unless effective virus purification is built in. It may mean users will have to be prepared for less-comfortable buildings but I for one would prefer that over the increased risk from not doing anything.

REMEMBERING THOSE LOST TO THE VIRUS

I saw the death figures from Covid-19 for the USA. They are shocking and there will be many families who have lost one or more loved ones. There ought to be a national memorial - and probably local ones - remembering those lost.

I think there is one being planned in the UK at our National Memorial Arboretum, https://www.thenma.org.uk/

Only last friday a friend was buried they said it was covid. yet he had terminal cancer , they put everything down to covid, so the figures dont match,
My friend is still in hospital 9 weeks after getting covid.
she went to a hospital for rehab due to her legs being weak she struggles to walk now.
she caught an infection she is back in the main hospital, then she will go back to rehab how long she is going to be there is anyones guess.

they say the flu has been taken over by covid. i know of people who have died with something other than covid, only for it to be put down as covid.
i know some people are taking legal action over this with their health board.
but this is not the only virus thats going to come out of China others are going to follow.

What you mentioned is an issue I have with COVID-19 and I suspect there are a lot of others.

In my area, one chap was injured in a car accident. In the accident, he lost a leg and bleed out before he got medical treatment. He died from COVID-19. Figure it out.

There are air filters that can remove viruses..... even in Government buildings and businesses.

I don't doubt that, BJ, but saying they can remove viruses may not be the same as knowing that they actually do. And if they do it still doesn't tell us which viruses they remove or kill.

Air recirculating heating and cooling systems are found in many types of buildings. Does anyone know know if all such systems are currently protecting against Covid-19 virus particles being recirculated? Or for that matter against other serious viruses?

If systems actually are providing virus removal/killing then there's nothing I should have concerns about.
