Mahāsatipaṭṭhāna
First Hello - I have always loved the Mahasatipatthana, and about 12 years ago i started discovering all the new full translations online - (anyone interested?)
i have always had a problem with the 8th step of the eightfold path. In all the short versions it is called "right concentration", but in the detailed Mahasatipatthana version, the description is all about different stages of absorption.
All translations i have seen give "right concentration" except the original German (K.E.Neumann 1929 - which Nyanopinka translated to English 1962) which was "rechte Sammlung", and 'Sammeln' means to unify, to bring together, to collect.
In Pali the original word for "right concentration" is sammāsamādhi or right Samadhi ... anyone want to discuss what Samadhi means in the context of the 8fold path ...?
and a quick question as PS.: i know the Mahasatipatthana is a combination of 2 texts - the Satipatthana and what is the other one with the 4 noble truths?
