it isn't too hard to figure out what happened in the time before god (if you aren't blinded by the idea there couldn't be one lol) and I can even lightly reason about what must have happened in the time before that... but... times before that I dunno, and I never could figure out what started the whole ball rolling either. Seems very mysterious to me...

I alternate between being bothered to varying degrees by the idea that our physical world is an illusion, and once in a while being OK with it, as I am at the moment, surprisingly to me, because this is usually not like me. This feeling might be gone tomorrow.

As I understand it, most everyone here is saying that it's based upon something, is not based on nothing. Some months ago, I assumed that everyone meant the latter, which would be much harder to deal with. Our universe might be like a movie, not real in the way it appears, but a movie is based upon actual photons of light hitting our eyes. Our world might be like that, or like a shadow on a wall of things actually happening.

Miss H, did it ever seem like you were looking at our physical reality from the outside in? (Reminds me of a song about Timothy Leary. ) Perhaps, upon returning from one of your experiences? It would surely be vastly more apparent that it's an illusion from that frame of reference. A frame of reference few of us ever experience, even for a nanosecond, I never have.

I've heard that idea thrown around. I think they mean, that your perception is the illusion. It does feel like I'm living in virtual reality. I mean, the reality i perceive on the other side, on the astral and via my light body, feels a thousand percent more real to me than life on Earth.

But there's no doubting that earth DOES exist, and so do all the life forms on her surface.

Sometimes perception can be faulty though. A person can believe something which isn't measurably true, for example, when someone is delusional or psychotic. Perception varies so widely from one individual to another that some people's perception may seem illusory to you and me, and I think this is where that idea comes from.

Hi, not like from the outside looking in, no. At 8 yrs old ...and then many times after...
with my mouth dropped usually, suddenly in some 'place'...
not your everyday mindset ---I 'saw'...''OMG, this is not real....that building is like a prop on a movie set!"

Hard to explain when the Doors of Perception open in the brain!!
And if they have never --I get that it seems like some intellectual concept...
luckily we have quantum physics now for those that are left brainers and love science.

We know now that the chair is not really a chair ---it's just appearing as a chair!
Is it 'real' ? Well, Yes. It's being held together purposely...there is a 'glue'...and that 'glue' is the Power, the Essence of All That Is.

Exciting stuff in the middle of the day to exp a wall or a chair as a living, breathing conscious thing within them making them exist in a form.

What is the purpose of illusion? Illusion does the work (for spirit) and is not permanent just as the physical is not.

I've had alternate perceptions, but just in ways very different than you've had, and not as all-encompassing. For me, it's about music, particularly female singing voices, particularly ABBA. I've felt incredible depth in their music that I didn't perceive until two years ago or so.

Also, mostly with the ABBA Song "SOS," my perception changes so that I hear it at almost a different speed each time I watch the video! It sounds more than twice as fast at the fastest speed as at the slowest. I can sometimes even have something like the "seed of a thought" in between notes at the slower speeds.

I wrote about this in more detail in my next-to-last post on this thread:

The real quandary, as far as I am concerned is our inability to comprehend how atoms form themselves into things/shapes/densities/ and so on. How on earth were you formed into a human being.

It's worthwhile taking a look at this:

It gets better and better.
