Central to Christianity are belief in Jesus as the Son of God and salvation through him..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostl...h_translations

If there is no central theme or standard of beliefs than anything goes.

Then we have the Nicene Creed,

The Nicene Creed is a profession or statement of faith adopted by Christian leaders at the Council of Nicaea in 325. This took place under the leadership of Emperor Constantine. The Nicene Creed is ACCEPTED by the Catholic Church, Orthodox Church, Anglican Church, and many Protestant church.....

Accepted....... Not obligated.....

Of course, that's the interpretation of primitive minds that didn't
even know where the sun went at night.

The O.T Yahweh and the N.T. Jesus have been made twins by the Christian creed.

I do not blame anyone for trying to distance Jesus from the genocidal prick, Yahweh, but no one can and still call themselves Christian.

That and the bestiality involved in Yahweh using Mary and cuckolding Joseph and becoming a deadbeat dad is stupid from the word go.

Even on his own, Jesus has really poor moral standards and has promised another genocide on his return.

(Maybe I shouldn't have added that.)

The Nicene Creed and other changes came about as wolves entered dressed like sheep. Jesus prophesied that such a distortion of his teachings would happen. But that later, people would be able to distinguish the false from the true.

Exactly ...... The ones who go beyond the dogma and find the ' Kingdom ' of God within....

Clear out the clutter to find the space within.

Don't forget to acknowledge your own dogmatism.

Gnostic conspiracy theorists will disagree, but the creed is based on the gospels. Belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, as a saviour and method of salvation, nailed to the cross, risen from the dead etc. I don't make it up, neither the churches. It's in the gospels.

Miss Hepburn,

This appears as an attempt to pigeonhole Christians. Always interesting when non-Christians attempt to define what Christians are. A Christian is defined by his personal belief rather than agreeing to believe what others believe. For me it comes down to accepting the divinity of Christ....you either do or you don't. I would add that if you are unable to accept His divinity does that mean you cannot accept the divinity of others ? Perhaps my belief might fall in line with the Nicene Creed, for example, but the Nicene Creed by itself is not the reason for believing in Christ.

Should you not decide if Jesus is divine by his moral tenets?

Do you see his moral tenets as morel? Especially his no divorce for women and his substitutional punishment policies?
