Tarot mirroring your feelings or predicting your future?

I go to a good tarot/astrology reader and there been couple of times where the cards keep saying the first half of this year will be bad. I am anxious and upset about it now. I can't stop obsessing over it. How do you know when cards are just mirroring your thoughts/feelings or predicting that something will actually happen? Sometimes her cards are right in the past :/

I probably can't help you out except to say that bad means a possible opportunity for you. At age 57 I was lifting weights for a year, just to do it. I realized after I bench pressed 200 pounds that it was the opposition of the weights that was making me stronger. I'm not trying to get homey here, I actually got to where I was bench pressing 245. For an old fart that was decent and all the younger people were telling me how very impressed they were! But it was hard, it took months, it took a lot of sweat, and a determination from me to do so everyday. But, with the struggle, with the days when I couldn't do as well, I got stronger, I got better, I felt better, I ended up looking better (without the head - lol).

So, bad is subjective. Don't focus on that. That would be my advice. The cards are not set in concrete, they are not fatalistic. Bad is relative. Just take life one day at a time, look in the mirror and tell yourself you are good, and you feel good. Be happy, and be friendly to EVERYONE, if just by smiling without a word to strangers when you are out and about. Be good to yourself. Do everything positive you know how to do. Ignore the reading, it is not your fate. They are more suggestion, not fatal truth of your life.

Don't mean to get preachy. Please don't take it that way.

Your feelings and thoughts play a role in predicting future events. Everything is a mirror reflecting back to you what you put out in verbal, behavioral, thinking and feeling expressions. Understanding that how we feel and think is also part of our behavior, and our behavior, on every level, determines future events.

I always advise people to learn the cards for themselves, and then you can do your own readings on yourself any time you want. You are talking about your own consciousness, something that is intimately yours, and Tarot is but one of many tools a person may use to develop a very deep relationship with themselves. The relationship you have with the cards is the relationship that you have with yourself. You determine your future.
