Any new thoughts on using the word G-D for God?

Did you want me to elucidate further the misconceptions in your previous post(s)?

Thanks for clarifying.

As I understand, it is about having deep respect for the sacred name.

I don't know why anyone would ask if people are comfortable with the custom...unless they aren't ? I don't think anyone is out there insisting they must also use that spelling.

That is what I think is the reason, also.

But, is there a scriptural basis for this. Other words, how did it come about?

GlitterRose,

thanks for commenting on this thread.

It looks like this thread is having problems.

Hopefully, it is not related to 9/11.......

A human being scared to say a word is like a bird scared to sing a certain whistle. You give yourselves too much credit, compared to God we are less than ants.

Do you use other names for G-d?

When I see G-d or God written in text, I almost always replace it with how the word was pronounced 'sort of' in Hebrew, and that is Elohim.

In Genesis 1:1, that scriptures reads as: "In the beginning, God [Elohim] created the Heaven[s] and Earth."

In Hebrew, God [Elohim] is written like this:

The word is pronounced something like ’ĕ·lō·hîm.
