Maybe that's the symbolic lesson: if you don't go inwards and find yourself, you're doomed to do it all over again, and again ...

The question is what does our past lives mean? When do we become ourselves? When we are born we become a new person. When we die we become a memory. Thus we as a being are gone forever. The memory of us remains in the fifth dimension. This memory can flow into a new fetus via the mother. Thus a baby can inherit the memory of someone else.
People can be influenced by this memory. People can suffer guilt from this memory. However the memory is not you. You are not guilty of the sins of the past because this was not you.

I wouldn't say it's symbolic. And is it a 'doom'? Hahahah sounds like I'm givin' you a hard time ---I'm not! Just my take.

Do you recall Dr. Brian Weiss telling the story of the couple that came to him for help - so he does hypnosis.
Turns out they had 52 lives together - each one killing the other ...what a LOOP!
They were stuck in their same triggers and anger is all.
I understand cuz looking at 3 lives ---I pretty much needed a few bricks on the head to break out of a terrible cycle.
I'm a slow learner. It's very humbling to see how dumb I can be.

But each life, each job loss, each fall from the ladder, each car accident, each relationship gone wrong is for a reason.

There's no doom or gloom involved in the Big Picture...we have to reach a certain 'place' to ---let's see,
'go back Home', get into Heaven, have Union with our True Self, our Source and Creator...
reach God-realization --so many ways to say this.
And there is a key.
The key is purity. So we tumble like stones in the surf until our rough edges are smoothed over.

It's the System of this Universe or existence.
Just the way it is.
That's one reason I'm on this Path ---to purify my thoughts, words and deeds to the core.
And every pebble in my shoe that 'gets me' is a blessing...another obstacle to overcome, is all.

And I get boulders in my shoe sometimes!!!!
That's what I have gleaned, anyway.

The context in which I made that post was that I believe that the same way as dreams are mostly symbolical, in the same way whatever happens in our awake lives is symbolical.

It is also true that I don't subscribe to dr. Weiss' views. I believe that his data is distorted by his beliefs.
