Ultimate purpose of life
Since my awakening started just after Christmas my perspective on life has changed and widened. While discussing my experiences with another member it struck me that the ultmate purpose of life here - or certainly what it appears to be - is to realise who we are. We are evolving to know ourselves as part of the Divine.
This is something I've had in my head as a concept for a good few years but I've never fully grasped it. I believed it without truly knowing it in my heart.
I still lose sight of it sometimes but this morning I've woken up with a sense of awe. Life really is quite incredible - yet a lot of the time we (and I very much include myself here) can't see the wood for the trees. Many don't even see the trees. They see bills, TV on the blink, violence on the news, queue in supermarket...but not the beauty around us all.
I respect everyone's beliefs and know some might not agree with purpose but I want to share this today. If nothing else I think the world is a truly remarkable place.

Hi Starbuck
I would say like many things In that there are many levels. In regards to one's purpose I would say that applies also. There Is perhaps a purpose In what we are Is "In experience" and part of one's purpose Is solely that - "to experience" our way back Into the Ocean of what we are lol.
Also
When an Individual allows the soul to shine through the ordinary mind one may begin to have an understanding of what one's soul purpose Is.

Thanks for the thoughts and contributions everyone. It's really quite a revelation when you realise how beautiful the whole purpose of life is - and indeed life itself.
The sad thing is when I know this and yet still feel sad, frustrated, confusion and worried. But then I suppose I wouldn't be human if I didn't have these things to work through!

By the way, I like the comemnts on individual soul purpose from God-like and Luminaries - this is something I've pondered a lot myself. I agree that we're here to experience who we are. I also agree that it takes a lot of courage to love. This is something very prominant in my own life at the moment.

Greetings..
The One became many, we/us/Life, the Cosmos itself.. it became 'many' so that it might experience its own existence.. the 'ultimate' purpose is the experience itself.. the multitude of beliefs about 'how' that experience should be, is just differing interpretations of the 'ultimate' simplicity.. the experience itself. the many interpretations are part of the One's experience of itself..
Be well..

After practicing Self-cultivation in Falun Dafa for some time I have no questions about the purpose of life anymore. In my opinion there is just one purpose of my life, and that is to go back home to my original birthplace in this cosmos and become an immortal God in the process of cultivating my level up there to consummation.
To be able to do it I must get rid of all my attachments to my seven emotions and six desires and assimilate to the cosmic characteristics of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in the process of living a normal life in society. Take all the bad noise of our society lightly.
Just my two cents at my current wisdom level, no truth offered whatsoever.
Wish you good luck in your quest for truth!

Whenever someone asked the question on spiritual forums of 'what is your purpose?' or 'what are you?', my answer was always 'Love'. That was the only answer that seemed and still seems to be the right one.

I also really like what you've put Starbuck. I especially like the third paragraph.
I'd like to add that I feel even when we know it in our heart, we may still have a way to go in order to 'realise' it.
I know I have.
