What you mean by transmuted in your language may not be what it means in English,
Transmute means to change shape. are you saying that is what has happened?
I can tell you I am a medium and when we pass the only thing we bury or cremate is a body.
The soul goes into the spirit world and no one can hijack the body because you lost control of your life either.

I don't know what beliefs are widespread in South Africa but based on what Shoni writes they may be very different from the simplicity of the philosophy and religion that underpins my own understanding.

I've read accounts even here on SF where it's thought a 'walk-in' can occur / has occurred, the eviction of an animating spirit from the body that houses it and the taking over of that body by a different, usually malevolent spirit.

In such notions there appears to be no understanding that spirits don't live inside a body. A spirit animates the body it has always animated since incarnation into this physical dimension. It can not be evicted by another spirit because it is inextricably embedded in every atom of that body. Only when death of the body occurs does separation take place.

I'm very well aware, however, that some individuals are totally persuaded by such fantastical ideas and the simplicity of the truth may be less exciting to them than the fantasies they enjoy.

Maybe let me ask a different question, have you ever heard of people crossing over voluntarily or surrendering their bodies or hologram on their own volition.
I read something like that from the book conversation with God book three but I am speaking of a real life event in this particular instance.

That you are left with so many unanswered questions might reasonably suggest you need to look elsewhere for guidance that truly helps you.

I too am confused by what you are saying.

Are you talking about a walk-in, where the original incarnating Soul voluntarily vacates the physical body and another Soul takes it over for specific purposes?

Supposedly this can happen - it may be that the walk-in Soul wants to achieve something on the physical plane without having to go through all the hassle of birth and growing up in physical form. This is supposedly done by agreement between the original inhabitant and the new occupant, when the original inhabitant decides they want to cut short their physical experience. The original inhabitant then crosses to the astral as normal.

You may mean something completely different.

I mean someone voluntarily opts to cross from the physical to the astral and beyond as a way to end an incarnation. Normally physical death ends an incarnation. If a walk in takes over the original soul crosses over but the incarnation continues with the walk in until a physical death maybe. But if no physical death occurs at least visibly to leave a body behind them only a cross over has occurred. Hence the confusion.

So are you saying that someone has left their body but the body continues to live?
