For me there is no line I can draw I need to deal with forgiveness and all of the emotional energies and thought forms that come with it. Unless I do I'm a garbage collector and feel all of the energy and I attract more in. I have to deal with it. I suffer only as long as I want to.
I had situations where it was hard to forgive because the stuff continued. It's hard to forgive someone who is standing on your foot. I have to take some situations back mentally to such a basic state to get to some resolve, but even the attempt at forgiveness gives me relief.

There is no single right or wrong way to approach the issue of forgiveness. One should do what feels right personally and try other ways if one is still struggling.

The Universe conspired. It planted the seed in the OP's mind resulting in this thread and at the very time I was reading this lecture in "Vivekananda: The Yogas and Other Works", all for the express purpose of jogging your memory.

Dear Mr. bobjob,
I was responding to the OP question: I am curious and wishing to develop a better understanding of where exactly does one draw the line regarding forgiving others? At what point does a person's value or self respect become compromised when practicing forgiveness?
I would be grateful for any thoughts, ideas or insights.
I explained to her what "I" do and why. I'm not trying to teach you or anyone else a different way to approach this. Maybe talk with the original poster if you have ideas that you want the OP to persue?

We may approach this from any angle. All are simple. Simply keep going back to the root cause, the origin of all thought and emotion within ourself, never minding the external. The external is an ego ruse. In truth, there is no ‘other’ ... but we can skip that for this thread.
Closer we are in alignment with love, lesser the problems. Then we simply empathetically accept perceived misalignment in others ... not from us ... but from Gods love vibration.
Animal or man ... what about it? Why the judging going on in our minds based on outer form? Once our heart and head is aligned with love, there is no possibility of any negativity. Love transmutes all lower vibrations into its all embracing pristine essence.
Space like vibrant emptiness is not hurt by the arrow spearing through its domain.
Substituting forgiveness with unconditional acceptance saves us needless mind games

It had never crossed my mind that your words were to teach me anything and my words were simply support of your approach.
