Beginning with astrology
Astrology has come on my path recently and I do not know where to start. Before I buy books that are way too difficult to read I am looking for advice where to start.
Note: I can't read academic/scholar books. They give me a headache:)

No need to buy books when you can educated yourself so much online!
Back in the time I did buy a book that I still love today, it combines the Western and Chinese signs. It's a miracle that the book is still sort of in one piece as i've used it so often!
As for the rest, use the net. You can always buy a book later if you so wish but then you know more what to go for and what not.
It does depend what you want from and with it.
For me it was and is mostly about the sunsigns, Venus (love, romance, esthetics), Moon (feeling, intuition etc) and Rising sign.
I once had a book from the library on Moon Signs.
And I've got Judy Hall's The Astrology Guide. Compact, not difficult to understand, handy to consult :) Very good for beginners and you can't really go wrong with that one!
