Set aside the mind and suddenly the whole "The universe hates me" disappears, why so? There's no "me" anymore. Suddenly, true freedom appears, it was always here, but the mind was in the way, one had to put it aside to see what's beyond it.
It's a very very easy thing to do... Just ask yourself, from where do all my thoughts come? From where do my mind comes? Surely from within, if you are not satisfied with the current things you get from within, then surely, you should go there, within yourself and ask for better things, afterall, all that you are comes from there, why bother with the mind when you can go at its source?
Ask yourself, who am I? Keep going further and further, deeper and deeper to know who you are, Instantly there's a strange feeling of not being who you think you are but something greater, I always get this feeling when I ask this question. It's like those BIG questions that no one has an answer to, we ask them and a strange feeling is felt inside.
When you will reach that place, you will understand instantly the whole idea of relying on Jesus and God's help and strength.
