Correct, wish them the best ...from a distance.
Sometimes that might be our particular lesson...learning to not be a doormat, be true to our standards and values.
Taking care of ourselves can be a big lesson this life.

Be an example of love for all to see and don't let anything shake your foundation, be firmly rooted in love and positivity. You needn't worry about what another expresses, if they're ready they'll pickup on your vibe and do likewise. It's like reeducatiing lost sheep back into the flock eventually they'll find their way back into the fold, be thankful for their portion and happy to be one with the whole

In regard to unconditional love, either we love unconditionally or not.
We can not love one unconditionally and not the next, which would be a condition already.

I agree, esp in certain instances. But many of us seem to have this Christian ethic or something similar ingrained in us that
''we should love our neighbor ...forgive 70 xs 7''...you know?
My neighbor is pagan and she explained to me, "I'm not Christian ...I believe in an eye for an eye."
That was clear and refreshing! Ha! :) No trying to forgive or love our mutual neighbor that was doing
very bad things re stray cats...we got the police involved.

I know I keep harping on this but what if you want ascension? I know not everyone believes in that but I can feel the effects being more "high vibe" and I hear letting go while unconditionally loving makes you ascend or whatever lol
Addition: I also feel like it's the right thing to do if I'm just gonna start my life over and leave the people of my past in the past |

I think love comes through understanding. A deeper understanding of the causal factors regarding who we are, why we are, and what this world is about.
As we hear that love is the direction, we work within imperfection to try to render an understanding of love.
In Zen Buddhism, one might call this a "koan," an intellectually insolvable question --
"How is it even POSSIBLE to love?"
A clue I used to use though was that love is not an emotion. What comes and goes is not yet love.

Love is not an emotion.
Ascension imo means rebirthing. As a continuous rebirthing in this body, it simply means you move beyond what you know currently and deepen inwardly to ‘recreate’ you as new life.
It’s not something beyond you. It is you.
