the Quote button

Just for the crack, why not temporarily disable the 'Quote' button and see how easy it is to follow who's replying to whom and to what?

It's no biggie to write 'quote' and then copy and paste the relevant bit of info although it's a pain in the derriere doing it repeatedly.....

It might make the point about how valuable it is to have a quote utility. If the majority were to prefer the forum pages without the quote button then why not then give it a longer-term trial without it?

I think the QUOTE button is great. I don't want it disabled.
So is the EDIT button and Preview button, great.
As are on our keypads ...the highlight/scroll and backspace buttons!

I'm with you!

I am constantly editing my pieces and quoting bits that I'm responding to. I certainly would prefer to retain that 'Quote' button but if we're to be restricted in how we quote, and/or how much we quote, then it's not far off having no quote button at all!

But I would be prepared to try changes that might benefit the website and the staff who administrate it so diligently.

It's just about as easy to copy and paste a section and add BB code front and back of the piece so it shows in a quote box.... like below with a little of the formatting missing but essentially complete.

Hello,

The question of the OP has not been answered.

Does SF need to buy a bigger hard drive or expand its bandwidth for it to continue functioning? If yes do let me know how much it would cost so that I can donate a partial contribution other than my yearly contribution.

If the limitation to limit the number of lines a member can quote is for other reasons, I can understand why. It makes it easier to read a thread. But if this is so, I believe it would be ethical to give the right reason to members on why they can't quote more than two lines when replying to a post.

Regards.

Please forget my last post.

I will contact directly the owner of SF, to help her in the way that I can for this site to continue running and staying free for all members.

And thank you for all the volunteer work of all the people that help to run this place.

Regards
