The 7 system is Hindu based and from my reading here doesn't work well until the aspirant studies the surrounding energy system. As you observe there's a lot of snake oil out on the web. You may be familiar with Arthur Avalon's Book "Serpent Power". Goes into it in some detail.

As was said, read on the internet. There's a ton of info on chakras.
Books for sale too, meaning it's a bit much to explain in a simple post. If you really want to learn you have to invest a little time in it :)

@ Lorelyen ... I’m familiar with the book as well as several other texts on the subject. The theoretical information is useful to quieten lower mind, to reduce apprehension, since we are sailing in unchartered waters.

What is there to say, other than that the lived reality is all that is valid. The kundalini does as it pleases, navigating both within and beyond form, as it likes. We, as the presence, ensouling mind-body, simply allow the blessings to inpour. When we say, the kundalini rises, who or what rises? Who else but consciousness, which we are.

It is futile to do anything and thus constrain, possibly harmfully deflect, the flow of divine energy.

Let’s keep it simple. Jiva-Atma-Paramatma or Ego (mind body) - Soul (individuated God essence) - Spirit (God) is the journey we are on. It can be progressive, via kundalini or energy or Krama path or via other paths as well (Spanda, Kaula, Pratyabhijna). All paths converge and even intersect.

Let us not instrumentalise chakras and kundalini. In some cases, the energy rises via the cool channel, in other cases, via the hot conduit. Some have it easy, via Sushumna. The physicality of postures, breathing techniques, visualisation meditation etc, mudras engage us as a doer, whereas by letting go, by softening attention, by getting to purity of being, by emptiness, we create a yearning within our heart to connect with God. The yearning births a magnetic pull. After that, how the benediction follows ... well, let it happen in any manner.

Is there a singular blueprint of how lovers melt into each other’s hearts? Thought rested awareness, devoid of resistance, with our fulcrum, our core, magnetised without contaminants, is the fragrance that draws the honeybee to us, metaphorically speaking.

the way i was taught was to visulise every Charkra a a flower bud when it is open it becomes a beautiful flower
