My mother used to use a bar of soap.........
As for me, I never tasted the bar of soap.

If you spend a lot of time watching children's television programs, you will change the way you speak.

Personally I have never had much of an issue with swearing, it's always other people fussing. It's pretty rare that I place a moral judgement on a single word. I do think excessive swearing is a lazy use of language.

It is very simple, don't do it.
And if others use it, turn around or walk away.

It's admirable when someone wants to get a bad habit in check. Definitely not a stupid question.
The only advice I have is, if you pay attention to what you are really saying when you use those words, and then ask yourself what you were actually trying to say, it may help. At the least, it will make you more conscious of what you are doing.
There are curse words, which are words invoking the wrath of god, or condemning someone or something to an unfavourable afterlife. These are often thought of as more acceptable forms of cussing, but it is good to ask yourself if you really want to be saying things like that.
And then there are swear words, which are out of context references to gore, bodily waste, intercourse, basically the most vulgar things someone can think up. This sort of language is usually used as a shortcut to emphasis. A verbal exclamation point, intended to shock or intimidate the listener into paying immediate attention to what you are saying. If you practise choosing your words more accurately, you will learn to bypass that impulse, and that will make you a more effective speaker in other ways, too.
