Post Movie script exercise

I thought we might have some fun and learn at the same time.

We'll write a movie script, all from Tarot cards. You can pull as many cards as you like, reversed or upright. You can either shuffle the cards and see what comes up randomly, or if you want, and you've got an idea of how you want it to go, pick a card (or however many) to represent your idea. The whole idea is to have fun and learn something about the cards along the way.

I'll pick a couple of cards at random to start the title and then we'll see where it goes. I have no idea how this will work, or if it will work, but, what the hell, let's give it a whirl and have some fun.

And roll ...

9 of Swords + 4 of Pentacles

"Sleepless in the City"

7 of Pent (RWS)

A man sits at his desk, chin resting on his hands as he looks pensively out the window.

2 of Wands, The Chariot, 9 of Coins (haha here's our female to mess it all up) Steampunk

All that unfettered ambition, his hopes and aspirations. How, driven toward success had led him to this place, he could not remember.
He sees her, enjoying the life he had wanted to be a part of.
'Had she ever truly love him, or was she happier now without him in her world?'

Don't forget to name your characters to bring them to life ...

8 of Swords (Rider Waite)

He remembered when he first met her - she was desperately trapped in an unhappy, loveless marriage, trapped and blinded to any future possibilities.

XVII The Star, 10 of Cups

Yet Celeste never gave up hope. She dreamed of finding the love and happiness which had, so far, eluded her.

5 of Cups reversed + Page of Cups reversed (Rider Waite)

When Celeste's husband died, she tried to pick the pieces up and start again. It was far more difficult that she realised, drugs and fantasies seemed to surround her being, giving her the quick fix she thought she needed, to help her cope with the uncertain future that lay in front of her.

Steampunk tarot, Knight of Wands, King of Coins

That was when she met him, this vibrant young man. He was so full of life, every day was a new adenture to his youthful eyes.
His father was a successful business man, the dominating force in the boardroom, but Alex saw his father's other side, he knew the loving, protective and charitable side of him.

6 of Pentacles, The Devil, the Hermit (Rider Waite):

Alex was helping his father with a charity "Widows in Distress", and there she was. He was drawn to her beauty like a moth to a flame, and like a moth, he had no idea at the time how much devastation she would bring into his life. He made it his mission there and then to save her from the perils of life, to release her from the misery that encased her. He would be her beacon, her saviour.

Page of Coins, 8 of Cups, 8 of Wands

Alex had always been known to be level headed, an old head on young shoulders, and knew in his heart that he should walk away from her and not become involved. Yet, Celeste seemed to do something to his sensibility, she stirred something in him, something he could not ignore. And, with a haste he would regret, he allowed it to lead him.

Oooh this is getting good, I just hope Death doesn't turn up soon.
