Verse 18.49 revisited on 11-February-2022

18.49
“The sage does whatever
appears to be done
without thinking of good or bad
His actions are those of a child”

As we pause
The cause
Of thought
Ego begot
Bliss enters
Heart canters
Going without fuss
Where God takes us
As joy currents spear
There is no one here
Save essence of presence
Vibrancy of innocence
Love suffused
No longer bemused
Thought and action
Employs love for traction
With pure intent
Heart luminescent
There is no karma
For love’s our dharma

Verse revisited on 02-March-2022

18.61
“For the deluded one,
even rest is an activity
For the wise,
even action bears the fruit of stillness”

Let’s do a mind-body scan
To know constitution of man
We begin with the head ovoid
Senses and mind by ego buoyed
Our spiritual heart lying in neglect
Burdened by fear, can’t stand erect

Each half breath holds key to freedom
Void of polarity exchange in body prism
When all thoughts cease, we are at ease
Poised in silence, mode embrace-release
Ego recedes since we choose to feed it not
Head melds with heart, no longer fear fraught

The path’s so simple, ending our inner conflict
Thoughts, words and deeds, now love inked
Mind-body vessel becomes a love crucible
Grace in-pours, the complex now simple
We play out earth life in as is assigned
One with God, nothing to be divined

Doings are done without any fuss
We just go where God takes us
Ensconced in the bliss current
Aglow, alive and luminescent
Karma ends, life is but play
With love as our mainstay

I have always loved those inspirational words from Swami Vivekananda.

Om Tat Sat, Om.

For me it was a combination of very deep meditation that pointed at It and then the waking equivalent of a lucid dream experience that cemented it. My meditation practice wasn't enough, probably because I barely "touched" the lower level(s) of Samadhi. I'm not Sri Ramakrishna and the 1,000 - 2,000 hours I have practiced is just a tad short of the mark. LOL!

I suspect in essence my experience showed me something very similar to what your NDE showed you, perhaps the exact same "knowing" and that is of the non-dual reality. Even though it's now a very subtle background reverberation it's still there and something that seems like it can't be "unknown".

Disclaimer: No, I'm not Enlightened but I did have a profound Awakening experience that, while it lasted, seemed like Enlightenment. To be totally truthful I was at first absolutely crushed as it faded into the background and took the better part of a year to come to a fuller understanding and thanks to Advaita, which at the time I had only dabbled in for a month or so before my experience.

The "waking equivalent of a lucid dream experience" does indeed "cement" the understanding of "when there is no I".

As for my NDE experience, it was indescribably mind-boggling since I wasn't even into meditation or eastern religions at that time ... just traditional Roman Catholic dogma. I could not relate to anything that happened during the NDE .. including the vision which was definitely eastern (though I did not know it at the time) and alien to my background. The NDE did serve, however, as a catalyst for this very unenlightened beginner to investigate further the nature of the Reality.

The Self looks like the world,
But this is just an illusion.

The Self is everywhere.

One.
Still.
Free.
Perfect.

The witness of all things,
Awareness
Without action, clinging or desire.

“The sage neither yearns for fulfilment
nor frets over non-attainment
His mind is cool
and brimming with sweetness”

Desire being for connecting
Not for attaining
For if the connection is seamless
We are in divine entwined blissfulness

(23-August-2019)

Verse revisited on 11-March-2022

Be our seeking relate to this world external ephemeral
Or of benedictions manifest within the body internal
As long as an identity claims ownership on boons
In deep hypnotic trance our awareness swoons
Failing to recognise the universe’s within us
Thus outcomes any, why for make a fuss
Delighting as petals of heart lotus blossom
Unveiling Christ consciousness in our bosom
Revealing soul’s God-essence as spirit unbound
Imbibing love by touch, with our feet on holy ground
Lower mind drops away and with it disappears desire
In but not of the world, our blissful aliveness, a living fire

“With the tongs of Truth
I have plucked the thorn of thinking
from the innermost cave
of my heart”

Verse revisited on 20-March-2022

A burning yearning arising in our heart
Feeling separateness, distanced from oneness
Upon exhaustion of thought, divine pulsations start
Continuum of thought rested stillness, distilled awareness

Recognising omnipresent space as immediate and intimate
Unhesitatingly, our formless presence melds therein
In heart manifests a threefold flame chaste
As we feel benign bliss burn our skin

Our central vein ignited, heart delighted
Ego now but an instrument, in the head ovoid
The lamp of luminous love divine in heart is lighted
Vaporised soul presence is by vibrant bliss currents buoyed

Soma nectar flows from the Bindu, each node of form as such
The boundary between form and the vast void disappears
We are ceaselessly graced by Divine Mother’s touch
Manifest within as magnetic heat spears

Inner conflict ends, erect is our stance
Bliss suffused aliveness, God elixir breathing
Childlike innocence playfully performs divine dance
Bubbling effervescence, love to the universe so bequeathing

“Where is meditation, pleasure, prosperity
or discrimination? Where is duality?
Where even is Unity?
I abide in the glory of Self”

Verse revisited on 23-March-2022

To know what is, discern what is not
Thus neti-neti, not this, not this, ephemeral
We look for truth, making singular, seeming plural
Yet senses externalised, everything’s sized in thought slot

The cosmic egg, womb of existence, lies within as Hiranyagarbha
Splitting, one becomes two, the two many, in-form polarity
Separation creates a yearning for union by parity
Samadhi resolves paradox of life’s enigma

There then thus is no doer meditating
All that is, is but Spanda or vibration in motion
Truth’s here now known in the void of breath cessation
Vibrant, all encompassing, luminous consciousness, scintillating

Spanda
is the original, primordial
subtle vibration that arises from
the dynamic interplay of the passive
and the creative polarizations of the
Absolute, and that by unfolding
itself into the energetic
process of differentiation
bringing forth the whole
of creation. ~ source spanda.org
