Are you referring to
“The Cosmic Serpent: DNA and the Origins of Knowledge” by anthropologist Dr. Jeremy Narby?
I tried to read the book once, but could not relate to it at that time.

But is the
experience the same or similar or parallel though?
When the thunder sounds it is The Rainbow Serpents voice, says an Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander.
When the thunder sounds it is The Thunderbird, says an Eurasian.
A person can be swallowed whole by The Rainbow Serpent and whilst in its stomach he will be cleaned, transformed and when spat out – reborn.

In a Shamanic Death experience it is The Thunderbird that swallows you up and when it spits or *s___* you back into your body, you are born anew (rearranged).
Native American might say:
“We don’t teach this Sacred Knowledge to non-natives or to outsiders”. (?)
Though the Thunderbird myth, according to some
is supposed to have migrated from Beringia to Americas (with their/our dry earwax gene to hear it):

So if you do have dry earwax, (with little or no body odour) –
it is supposed to have originated in Beringia.
(But from my experience) - In practice a Siberian/Eurasian and an Aboriginal will follow the ‘dictates’ of The Thunderbird or The Rainbow Serpent
itself – whom IT wants to show/display itself to. (i.e. no cultural divide to "The Axis Mundi" experience or “The Cosmic Womb” experience) – because
there just is nor can be nobody as an outsider of it.
