Great question. If one does what is objective will it be different then subjective.

Interesting thought. But people know why they act and sometimes I think it is obvious. For instance, people should not imo harm (knowingly) another intentionally? I don't think this is an absolute matter of no good or no bad but a matter of intent. What is done here subjectively will be done in the afterlife. Is that even allowed, not knowing.

I would think even teachers might say don't do certain things. What do teachers say?

many people would say 'don't harm others' but those same people are quick to emotional judgements that are often incorrect, that end up harming others.... for some reason it is 'allowable' to hurt someone emotionally where it is not 'allowable' to hurt someone physically and people will do the former all day long without second thought, while yelling at anyone who tries to do the latter....

some of us live in tremendous pain because of that fact.

really though there are two questions if I become conscious my activities are going to be mean even emotionally.... first I wonder if being mean is really worth it? Other people seem to need some space. And second I wonder if the karmic implications in terms of what is going to happen next are really worth it?

Sigh...

I think you make a fair and astute point.

Also, it is technically impossible to not hurt others, indirectly. We all partake in the food web and use resources. One organism's food and territory comes at the cost of another.

Well, I think it's a wrong choice to quote the Orig Post over and over here
when its more than 2-3 sentences. So, yes, there are wrong choices.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

This is interesting.

Rather than 'objective', I tend to classify actions as intrinsically good or bad (right/wrong). Which is to say that action is intrinsically qualitative in nature. But we do have to factor into the equation both intent and result - consider for a moment how, on the one hand, bad things can happen quite by accident, yet also that, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

As per the earlier Tolle quote, I agree that the level of choice is directly proportional to how conscious one is being. Because in the absence of that, one tends to be largely reactive, just swept along. That doesn't really mean choices aren't being made, or at least doesn't excuse them, especially in terms of consequence. Frankly, those folks often do the most damage - in terms of suffering, both to themselves and others. On the other hand, those who operate with a high degree of 'being conscious' tend to engage mostly in right action, and interestingly, quite spontaneously. Almost 'choicelessly', you might say.
