Neck pain and energy

Over the last few years I've been experiencing a lot of tension in the back of the neck. It's at the point between the shoulder blades at the base. I've been under a lot of pressure at work, I've been struggling this last few years to do my job, so I've put that tension down to stress. Anyways, the last couple of weeks I've been feeling release in the area. It feels like energy moving, like fluid it feels very nice, as though the energy is running down. It makes me shiver when I feel it, but feels nice. I'm no stranger to feeling energy in the spine. I have been feeling heat and energy in the base of my spine for quite a few years now. This, at times is very pleasurable. Kundalini communities have gave me the answers I need for that, but not sure if the energy I've been feeling in my neck is related. Anyways, it feels positive, and hoping it's a sign that I'm making progress, and better dealing with the stress in my job at the moment. So yeah, I'm wondering what it is in my neck that's happening?

so i don't know much about it, but, various eastern practioners talk of various ways energy can move about in the body.... from what I've been able to gather that is often blocked in various ways, not sure the why, but the blocks can be worked through with breath exercises... perhaps you do breath exercises of some sort? Or if not perhaps you were unconsciously guided to work through this one as part of whatever other practice you do have? Or just the fact of the tension and whatever you did to try to relate to it could have made a difference here... Personally I would call it a welcome development and not really worry about it, as you say you already have some experience with such at the base of the spine... so that wouldn't be too much of a stretch

I remember now that I have felt these pleasent sensations in my neck before. I'm thinking maybe because I've had such a stressful couple years I haven't been feeling it. My mum has had cancer, and with the stress at work aswell, it's been tough time. My mother has made a good recovery, so that's made things much easier.

I do gentle breathing exercises when practicing yoga asanas, but can't do pranayama. For whatever reason pranayama breathing exercises has an adverse affect on me. It feels like I'm forcing energy, and this makes me very agitated and uncomfortable.

I know very little about the chakras, but I can feel the base chakra in the base of my spine is active, also in my foot. I feel this when I feel heat in these areas, which often feels extremely pleasant. But I don't feel the heat in my neck, it feels different. So maybe not related to the throat chakra and blockages.

sorry about your mom. I've been lucky in that noone around me has gotten dreadfully ill...

yeah i don't know about the chakras either, I really don't study anything formally. but I do think there are more types of feelings than just the 'heat' you are used to. One of the more obvious ones is something a lot of people experience in small ways: the 'buzzing' you can get in your arm or leg when you let it 'go to sleep'. Just as you could sometime get heat running through your entire body you could get that running through your entire body as well... some people have had that experience briefly. (It happened to me once and I've heard a couple of other people comment on it over the years) And then there is other stuff I either am not familiar with or wouldn't know how to describe...

so yeah it makes sense to me that your neck could feel differently somehow from what you are used to elsewhere. Same ways as different parts of a bird have feathers that are of different colors????

Hello Smoon.

If physical ailments have been excluded by medical diagnosis, looking at it from the energy (kundalini) perspective, the thumb rule is that there should be no discomfort in rise of magnetism or flow of soma nectar. Apparently you are already in touch with those in the know of such matters. All I can say is, simply witness the play in childlike wonderment, neither seeking nor resisting, since what it is, is a transmutation, a becoming, the blossoming of a rose, which takes time.

If pain persists, we need to look at emotional blockages correspondent to the zone where discomfort manifests. The throat relates to communication, requiring embracing truth and innocence* (* derived from pure heart), wherein we prioritise heart over head.

The energy body responds to our choice, as we actually are in thought, word and deed, moment to moment in lived reality, requiring so to speak, continuous contemplative consciousness correction.

This is my view and may differ with that of others. If we look at the throat, does it not connect the body mainframe with the oval shaped head? There’s more to this of course.

Hello Unseeking Seeker,

Thank you, everything you say makes sense to me. So I understand the emotional blockages you talk about related to the throat, that's something I'll have to focus my attention on now and work on that.

And when you say "continuous contemplative consciousness correction" yes, my daily life is watching my thoughts, and being aware of how my behaviour affects those around me.This also affects me greatly energeticly. It's incredibly hard work and the self-discipline feels extreme. But the rewards can feel extremely pleasurable.

I know of pain all to well about 17 years ago I was in a car accident.

The seat belt jarred into my shoulder leaving me where the bone was broken and it was digging into my nerves,

I had to have a Decompression operation on it.

even now I still get pain I have to have steroid injections in my neck.

Ouch, sorry to hear about your accident Native spirit. One of my colleagues at work sustained similar injuries . He was involved in a fatal accident where the other driver died. He's back to work now after a long time off. I feel for him, a dreadful experience 😔
