Why hope?
Perhaps it is that ''hope'' that makes people believe in far-fetched, grandiose mysteries. The irony is mystery disappears once there is knowledge.

It's just that it would be sensational if they turned out to be right, and a complete nothing burger if it's a big cloud of hocum. My money is on the latter 100 to 1, but maybe just maybe, where there's smoke there is fire.
I'm convinced there is a history stranger than fiction. We may find megalithic stonework and refined granite urns and ask how did they do that? but there exactly zero material evidence of advanced tooling etc, so mystery is, how did they do such immaculate work in hard stone with bits of copper and rocks? Some will say that's what they did, but I think it's just the way we currently make sense of the material evidence we have.

The joy is largely in it being a mystery. The best stories have an open end.

I watched a podcast with a woman who is an archeologist that uses the imaging method in question for her own work (along with several other techniques). Her educated opinion the claims of the Italian researchers couldn't possibly be validated by the technique they claim to have used. That doesn't mean there isn't an engineered structure there, but it does mean the imaging method used doesn't indicate that there is.

That really wouldn't get published anyway as it's run by friends of Zahi Hawass. It was smugly mentioned by Hawass of the info that "they could get it published first" knowing full well that no it wouldn't be, because of the likes of him behind it.

Since it's gone viral, people are informally peer reviewing and going on podcasts etc., and it sounds like archeologists and radar techs alike are skeptical.
In this case, I think there's reasons to be skeptical and no reasons to believe the claims. That's why I personally believe it's all hokum, but I know next to nothing about pyramids, Egypt, archeology or special radar detectors, so what I think means little since it's just plucked out of thin air.
Not that it isn't strange that there are giant pyramids on Giza, and no one has found out how they were made. It's reasonable to think that something completely out of the box might be going on, and I'm pretty sure there is.
