The Hindu Gods are not real. They are devas. But there is a God (one God, not many) who is most real and is the crowning glory of Spirit (Brahman). This God does not disappear when you become one with reality.

A simple analogy might help?

Namaste, Presence
I'm late to the party by 10 years or so :) and perhaps you have found your answer already. But your question is timeless, really, and this analogy might ease the question for other seekers.

Because you asked from a bhakti standpoint, feel (instead of think) that you are holding the most brilliant diamond imaginable (!) in the palm of your hand. That is God capital G, the Gem, OneGod, Brahman. For strict adherents of Advaita, that's all there is and you couldn't actually hold and examine or "interact" with such a thing because you are That, as well, a Truth which you acknowledged in your query and one which all seekers will, in one lifetime or another, experience.

However, for most Advaitans... well, and for most of us bhaktas, too, that Truth yet remains only a belief, at best an affirmation.

So in other aspects of Hinduism, the diamond Gem is considered to have facets. 330 million of them and they constitute the gods small g--aspects of OneGod, part and parcel thereof but distinguishable by their form or Name, virtues and exploits. And though the Gem has many faces, no face competes with another; each instead does its part to reflect the beauty of the whole.

In bhakti, those faces twinkle and when you sing to or praise a twinkle, the whole Gem smiles.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru
