What gemstones come from organic organisms?
What?
What gemstones come from something living or was alive?
Amber is the first one we might mention.
Jet is another along with petrified wood.
Now we are on a roll......
Coral is one
Pearl is another.
and then there is Ivory.
Can you think of some more?

I never thought o Ammonites nor Petrified Palm.
As for Peanut wood, I first saw that this year. I have to study up on that one
When you mentioned Petrified Palm, it reminded me I have some Petrified Bamboo.

Forgive me folks, if I sound a bit of a thickie, but I always thought all crystals were organic, that is why they are sensitive?
Off-topic really, but my 7 year old grand daughter is very drawn to crystals, I am hoping to foster her interest further with the gift of a 'Crystal Science' gift for Christmas.
Do you all have your crystals with you when you meditate? Sorry, off-topic again!

Very nice! I gave a few people rose quartz crystals this xmas. They are beautiful. |

Well, if you mean it from a broader perspective, you could say they are all part of the natural, organic world.
I think BigJohn meant the difference in the way they are formed- correct me if I’m wrong, BigJohn
With most of them being inorganic, as made by minerals.
The organic ones, like stated in the first post, made from plants or animals.
Definitely a great idea for your granddaughter.. kids are so wonderfully intuitively intelligent..

The two Petrified Bamboo specimens I have look so much different from Petrified Wood......
Petrified Bamboo looks like Bamboo but is petrified whereas
Petrified Wood looks like Wood that has been petrified.
Conceptually, it took me a while to grasp Petrified Bamboo's existence.
