Should we avoid negative words in affirmations?

Hi Friends,

I have a query to ask you all.
Should we avoid using negative words in our affirmations that we say?
Example:
Instead of saying "I am not sad", should we say "I am happy"? Because the word "sad" is mentioned in the sentence.
Please do share your views about this.

Thank you.

Well, sure sad is in the sentence and NOT is in the sentence.
Apparently the subconscious mind hears the not and sad...
here's the classic, Do not think of a pink elephant.
So, correct, you would say - I am happy, I choose happiness always, I find happiness in everything I do...things like that.
I will never be poor again, (I will not have a problem paying my bills ever), instead, say,
Money comes easily to me.
Money comes easily to me.
Voila!

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

A simple guide is to focus on what we want, not what we do not want.

Peace

When using affirmations, always express the state as if you have achieved it.

Yes. Only affirm for the things you desire, rather than affirming not wanting the things you don’t desire. Doing that is a bit like walking round a supermarket with a list of things you don’t want to buy.

The mind doesn’t compute negatives, so use only positive terminology.

affirmations and meditations

I usually meditate for sometime and when I am feeling most relaxed, then I use an affirmation. It is more effective this way. Also, it is important that you forgive everyone who has ever hurt you or harmed you before you practice with affirmations. If you are generous with others, life will be generous with you.

You have raised an excellent point that no one else has mentioned yet.

Regarding the original post, I always remember my teacher's words: "Don't think about things that you don't want to attract to yourself". Subsequently, I only use positive words in my affirmations.
