Heh, funny.
In the past, i was talking to few other (well i hope they were other because i do not know if it was you ...) people on some forums or in the irc chats, facebook messages ....
What is funny is that most of them have responded in a certain way, guess how ?
like this:
Quote:
That seems too simplistic. Where was God's love during the Holocaust?
Why is there so much evil in the world? Why do bad things happen?
|
It might not be the same words, but the theme was around "Why does he allow bad things to happen"
This led me to think that there might be a book ... a book for non-believers ... a book which tells people how to fend off all those who come there to talk them into a religion.
I guess i saw something similar on the TV. Like if someone churchy ask you something, then ask them a question which is very painful to answer. I think that is called outsmarting ...
When i read your post before, i was short before asking you if you have had read that book and if you are applying something from it here in this forum !
But then i thought to do better.
Anyway the assumption of a book was not the only thing that i came up with.
The idea of that book helped me to get into comparison mode.
You see, i always wondered why people preach the damnation and hell part of the bible?
Because you see, you can't preach about the Good and Bad at the same time.
You can preach the good, and explain the bad.
The comparison was:
"Why does he allow bad things to happen"
VS
"Moving mountains, Healing the sick and raising the Dead"
Why are people not preaching the later.
Is it, because the former is too evident and easier to believe and to prove ?
Then i ask you, before you answer me that question:
"How can you learn to move mountains, heal the sick and to raise the dead, when you're preaching damnation ?"
