Maybe the Sacred/Holy Ash is only visible to those who 'see' and the rest need it to be blown into their eyes to recognise what it is.....

hate to say it but occam's razor is just a rationalization. Consider a hilly terrain, very foggy too. And you want to find the 'top'. So you go up, until you find the 'top'. Simple thing, occam's razor.

But you never realize there was another, higher top, because you can't see it from where you are and you won't go down first to find out there are other hills, and one might have it. And then you rationalize you've found what you wanted and occam's razor does indeed work...

I see the points raised in the last two posts as a last ditch effort, attempts to simply look away and put one's fingers in one's ears.

The guy was shown to use tricks, why hang on to him? The lure of the god man, indeed there is no need for rationality. Just the feels, man........

Hahaha ~ maybe so. I neither support nor oppose the motion. Anyway, this topic is headed nowhere in as applicable to our spiritual growth.

Disagree. Being aware of tricks and signs of dishonesty can help to distinguish between truth and non-truth.

I'm no follower of Sai Baba....I found this to be a very good pro/con informative webpage about him.

Yup, I noticed how 'materialisations' were swept under the rug in favour of more obscure anecdotes about ash.

@FL In this case Occam's razor is presented with the claim that these are miraculous materialisations. However, it could be some simple and poorly executed magic tricks (obviously). The latter explanation is plausible and the claim is a bit of a stretch. Otherwise, do away with rationality with high hopes that the unlikely claim just might turn out to be right.

US is now saying it's not constructive spiritually, but morality is the cornerstone of a spiritual path and truthfulness is the cornerstone of morality. Is Baba truthful? I'd say very likely not, but he misleads a lot of people. I don't want people to be misled let alone defrauded, so I care about the truth. It's not only that. It's the bigger picture of how truth facilitates trust - and deception destroys it.

If these are tricks, it means Baba deceived people and took their donations on false pretenses, along with their adoration and reverence. If it's true he did palour tricks, then he's a con man who pulled a great scam. Since it's obvious to me that he did do parlour tricks, that's how I regard Baba. For all I know he might be a high holy man, but he's not trustworthy, and that's what counts.

Well, gang since this has turned into negative talk like about any religion ...as in the Roman Catholic
Church or the J. Witnesses, of which we have members here that follow them.. and many more that

could be 'defrauded' and criticized...we better close it up.
It will remain available for people to read the comments made by all.
Pro and con.
