Stuck!

For years I have dreamt of returning to the lands where I am happiest, where I find Joy in Existing, peace in the land and sea scapes, and companionship in the friendly people and the social gatherings they organise

But instead I am stuck due to political events in a dreary large city with poor damp weather, and people who are far to busy to make meaningful companionship

I have been ďstuckĒ for a good few years now, and at 64 need to move on.

I donít want to live with this perpetual irritant, I want the joy in life I have when the sun shines..

How do I engage with lifeís lessons either to find peace where I am at, or physically move to more hospitable climes

I am totally at a loss (but far from despondent, I am happy #despiteeverything) as to how to live life to its fullnessÖ.

any observations are more than welcome! (for relationship reasons I canít just pack my bags and move!)

or am I stuck in a pseudo happy place with the sure knowledge there are better places for me to be

I guess it means that if we canít change whatís happening around us then we CAN change our thoughts about it.

Yeah easy said than done, I know. But I have used this tactic on a few occasions and it certainly has improved things.

Maybe you are like me. I actually thrive on change whereas most people hate change. So perhaps you could move house but only in another area that isnít too far away instead of another country. Sometimes a little change can be very beneficial. It has certainly been for me.

Maybe cultivate new friendships as you might have outgrown the ones you have. Go on a long train ride to somewhere youíve never been, maybe once a week. Get out of the routine that you are in and establish a new one, or none at all.

Just some of the things off the top off my head, that might work for you.

Iím sure other people will have some interesting ideas.

In my view, as long as there is either desire or aversion, even to the subtlest level, we need to look at the source ~ attachment to mind-body and outcomes that gratify it.

Given that what we experience in linear time has already been impulsed in the ethereal domain, our response, moment to moment, determines soul’s learning. Thus acceptance in tranquility.

As for changing the environment or situation … sure, but then we think, here we have a social circle, in a new place we start over … will it be difficult, lonely perhaps? Fears. Apprehension.

Given that we are soul having a human experience, in this movie, the need to change the script obviously has roots in identification with form. It’s not that we shouldn’t try playfully, nonchalantly but then that’s it. Embrace-release.

Just my view. Go with what resonates. Ask the universe.

Funnily I have never considered thoughts of loneliness, difficulty and fears. They just never crossed my mind. I always thought in terms of excitement and new interesting contacts and enjoying myself. But thatís just me, I always see the glass half full.

But one thing I have learnt as Iíve gotten older is that learning to JUST BE and disciplining your mind is probably the most valuable thing we can learn. It changes your life in a very positive way if you are on the spiritual path and I guess it improves your life in the physical as well.

If you cannot just pack your bags and move somewhere more congenial for you then you are indeed stuck.

But I suggest that the problem is not that you are stuck. The problem is that you are resisting your present situation.

If you really cannot move somewhere warm and sunny and sociable then all you can do is accept that you are where you are. So let go of your desire for things to be different. If you keep on resisting your situation, if you keep on wanting things to be other than they are, then you are stuck with this "perpetual irritant".

As they say, change your mind and change your life. Then you will find peace where you are at.

And if you are happy despite everything then be grateful for your blessings.

Peace

Try to imagine your other half changing their view about where you both live. Imagine them coming around to the idea of moving to be near the sand and sea. Hold these images in your mind every night and really believe they'll come true and they will. That's the kind of thing that Neville Goddard tells us in his books and it's worked for a lot of people.

Personally, I would go and visit this place you love so much. Maybe as a holiday, take your partner with you. It may be that is all you need to satisfy the longing. At least its a way to use the trip as a sound board for both of you. Sometimes the reality of that life is not quite as the mind (which wants to de stabilise you with unfulfilled desires) remembers it to be.
