Agree  . Leaving and abandoning are two different things, imo. |

Actually from what I’ve read (various sources). The Buddha did not desert his wife and child. The wife knew already in advance that he would have to leave to do the work he had to do, plus she had plenty of family around her.
Later on when the child grew up she went and joined the Buddha and his followers because she had so much faith in him.
Me thinks, hardly abandoned.

Yup. And just speculating, Buddha could have been a typical 'rich kid' that hit his dad up for a few bucks from time to time.
