coyote (pastel)
I hope you like this friendly coyote. Pastel is a new medium for me. I'm experimenting with different papers (which makes a huge difference).

heron & supper
This paper (Strathmore) is too frustrating (for me) to work with, especially for doing feathers so I gave up. Blue Herons are beautiful birds. Their long beaks are like spears and they swallow food whole like pelicans. When their beak hits the water it leaves this blue dye in it which is so cool. I recently saw an injured heron missing part of its leg (probably bitten off by a snapping turtle) - a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Poor fellow had to stand on one leg for a long time before he finally got rescued. He was also dragging fishing line :( as if survival wasn't hard enough without people garbage.

One day I'll figure out the business end of things. For now it's art for art's sake. Thank you.

Thank you Stranded Snow Monkey.
This is as far as I got with it - the paper I'm using isn't working for me (quite maddening actually) or else I still have lots to learn about the medium.
