Forum Clarity

Hi members of the Spiritual Forums,

As you may or may not be aware of, there has recently been a rather ugly situation developing within the heart of the forum. This ugly situation arose through no one's fault but rather a difference of opinion on how all of us members communicate with each other. It was not so much on what was being said but rather how things were said.

There are now a quite a few members who were involved in the original fiasco who now believe that the situation has been resolved. Up until this announcement however, that would not be a true thing to declare. Quite simply, the situation has continued through the use of the PM system and indeed I too have been involved. However, my goal so far has been one of clarification and admittedly, at times, I have felt like I am talking to a brick wall.

Not only has the situation continued in this manner but in the aftermath of the original dispute, it is as though a shockwave has swept through the community and with it, there are the faintest traces that people are now unwilling to post in fear of offending another member. I believe that no matter what the original incident appeared to look like, it was something more than that. I now believe that there is a question underlining the dispute and that question is the following:

Is this forum a place where we can discuss and indulge each other's beliefs or is it a forum where we can discuss and question each other's beliefs?

When members discuss beliefs in an open and detached manner, there is an amazing potential for growth of the involved person(s) belief systems. As it is when we indulge them and agree, but only to the extent that we members remember that we do have egos and so should always be open to other people's beliefs.

I would like to post in a forum where I can discuss beliefs and question beliefs. When we consistently indulge our beliefs and define ourselves by them, there is every chance that one may enter a period of stagnation when it comes to discussion and even life itself. I believe beliefs should be of a progressive nature.

Another subject has captured my attention is that of how to question beliefs. It is pointless to burst in, challenging beliefs in such a manner as to arouse the other person's sensitivities. When we members question each other's beliefs, we should do so in a respectful and thoughtful manner. That was much like the way it was when I attended these forums and it shall be so again.

From now on, I would like every member to consider what I have said here in this thread, for I feel many of you already know the truth of it.

Many thanks for reading,
