The first time I looked in this forum, I felt I needed to look at something here and found this thread. I've been putting potassium gluconate in my food for about two months. Its usually not more than 2 grams per day. I read about hyperkalemia before and a lot of sources recommend you get about 4-5 grams of potassium per day.

Quote:
For people without kidney problems, the kidney is very good about controlling the right amount of potassium in the body. It is recommended that people with healthy kidneys take in at least 4.7 grams of potassium each day.

It can be a problem if you have kidney problems.

Potassium gluconate
Formula C6H11KO7
Molar mass 234.245 g/mol

Potassium
39 g/mol

From my calculations: 1 gram of potassium gluconate contains 0.17 g potassium.

I only just clicked on this thread out of curiosity as like a few others the title is completely invisible! My neighbour was on three different water tablets,I told him I just usually use dandelion herb when I get bad as it contains some potassium anyway and I only use it when I feel I need it,he had to take those tablets every day regular I think.

I was using the dandelion extract tablets just before I was admitted to hospital. Since then I am not allowed to take anything with natural extracts in . Apparently it's because of the medication I am on.

An interesting article about potassium
https://od.lk/s/OV8yMTM5OTQyMDVf/keith1935.pdf

Potassium nitrate is discussed in the article. I guess that's why pharmacists carried it. Any time I asked for it, they wanted to know what I wanted to use it for. If I said it was for making gun powder, they wouldn't sell it to me. I bought some one time and told the pharmacist I wanted it for hydroponics. He didn't ask me what I wanted to grow with it.

I am a doing.

Doctor took me off Potassium Chloride. I was taking 3-5 of the 20 MEQ size pills. He also took me off the diuretic. He said I should never have been on any of those pills.

Right now: liquidating everything so as to be able to move. Just another adventure.
