Yuletide dreams

Our hearts are ablaze in trimmings and gifts
Our pockets run low, as our budgets not met
Our bellies are overloaded in sugar and spice
Our lives are immersed in Christmas delight

So as it will be, as we meet Yuletide this year
Breaking into laughter, old worn out tears
Too many wines, too many beers
Too much of everything, we fall on the couch
Beached whales and boozy
Stories of our wails, make someone go ‘ouch’

Stories of our hopes, of our dreams and our lives
Spill round the table, who’s telling lies?
Drink up, be merry, drink up be the best
Drink up, keep drinking, keep drinking
…get drunk, then rest!

Drink is for sure what keeps the Christmas spirit alive
It’s the truth serum where most, can’t contain what they hide
Whether a great outpouring of love, that is so not them
Or a mouth so big, they spew forth all their gripes
… multiplied by ten!

The food is the highlight where everything laid out
Tantalises the tastebuds, a time to break out
The richness, the juiciness, the creaminess of it all
It wouldn’t be Christmas without this great exaggerated stall

As for the fam, the family I know
All around the table, they continue to glow
Just as they are, just as they come
To the table at Christmas
We create as our fun

It’s a wet one today, soaked by heavy summer rains
We’ll be paddling and pulling duck faces
Telling everyone it’s a pain!

Who cares I say, to the whole bang lot
It’s Christmas, I’m happy, smiling with my lot!

Here we are
A little speck amidst the whole
Yet our wholeness aligns
As an important piece

The creation and contribution
We give to life
At times may seem
Dark cold and shallow
Empty without purpose
Driven and highly successful
Chaotic and wildly free

Devoid of loving intent
Damaging, harming, hurtful
Crazy, controlling seeds

Each one in unison
Whether loving, compassionate
Kind and gentle
Open warm and friendly
Are all of life’s evolving needs

Unveiling, unravelling
Undoing, an aligning assembly
Creation forging through these waters
We as humans cast out and feed

To all the waters of humanity
As a complex arrangement of seeds
We drink in all this unsavoury
We savour the moments we feel
Are aligned to our best interests
It’s all laid out on this earth field

Taking in all this life force
The human designed karmic wheel
We come to the end of these cycles
Only when all sides embraced
No longer feel

Triggered, trapped and traumatised
By the karmic worldly gains
The choice less path no longer
Battering our inner pains

The wheel of life now turning
As freedom promised from choice
Burned by fires and programs
Drowned and loss of one’s voice
Traumatised by potions
Forged from the hands of the devil himself

There was no way to avoid
The fate
Of choice less
Broken states

Life called you to this life call
It lands you where it will
Armed with the host
As your comrade
You forge the path
As it reveals..
