'The Tibetan Book of the Dead' a portrait of the dying and re-incarnation process states quite clearly that humans can be reborn as animals. The contrary must also be true.

In addition and no matter what your beliefs are there is no doubt that the aim of 'whatever' is to improve. So saying that there is no heirachy in the world is ignoring what is staring us all in the face.

The proof lies in the pudding - to take any moment out of context gives a false picture.

In this world we are of course perfectly free to hold whatever opinions and beliefs we choose. My own preference, though, is to accept that I don't know rather than to believe something is the case. It's taken me some time to progress to that position.

Therefore I don't know if animals live on in some kind of animal Heaven after death only to reincarnate the way we humans are said to do. The idea has appeal but I'm not aware of any such guidance.

If it were the case then it would make sense to me that some, and perhaps very many, human spirits would choose to live in an animal Heaven. At that point, of course, it wouldn't be animal Heaven.

I don't know - it's conjecture. What's certain, though, is that if there were such a dimension then our relationship with animals in it are likely to be very different from what we experience here. And certain relationships would definitely be missing.

No matter how clearly something might be stated it doesn't necessarily make it true.

It may also be that context is vital to appreciate the principle.

ths.

Odd that my support of your statement by mentioning 'the Tibetan Book of the Dead' should meet with your condemnation of the same.

And, by the way, that book or indeed the topic of re-incarnation is in no way proof of what I consider to be feasible.

I didn't condemn anything but the part I drew attention to was (quote): "....states quite clearly that humans can be reborn as animals."

I am heartened, though, you do appear to agree with what I'd written earlier, ie "....when the body of an animal dies its spirit - again like our own - is free to undertake another incarnation, maybe as a similar animal but eventually as a different and more sophisticated one."

This thread was intended to be about animals, our relationship with them, how little spirit guidance there is on their role here and how I see them as special in this dimension.

I didn't make, and wouldn't dream of making, any comment about what you consider feasible.
