More on the subject of having to suffer in order to learn. Forgot to add this:

I don't adhere to any religion. I used to think everything bad that happened to me was a punishment. Or an angry God. I wasn't sure which. I do know that when I was young and a Christian I once read the bible and was amazed at how the Christian God was so angry all the time. Wanting to wipe out his chosen people.

Now I know that is absurd. I'm at the point in my transformation that i have to learn to drown before I can learn to swim. And I accept that. Bad things that happen to me are no longer interpreted as "I'm doomed to be constantly picked on". Now I see it as a platform to smooth out my rough edges. I become more understanding and accepting and don't fight against life's dilemmas. I just let them happen.

I think when I fight against what life throws at me I defeat the purpose of the lesson.

Added: I think when I fight against what life throws at me I defeat the purpose of the lesson. And labeling it as something else, all that planning by our guides and teachers to throw that lesson in our path and we walk around it.

I am personally responsible for walking around obstacles (lessons) in past lives. That is why I threw everything into this one so I couldn't.

I appreciate the way you think things through, and how you present them.

I respect your right to view life and our spiritual experience as you do. You and ketzer have given me food for my soul and things to think about in this thread.

Thank you AnotherBob for starting this thread.

When I was reading the books Game of Thrones, Ygritte kept telling Jon Snow, "You know nothing." And it really agitated me each time she said it. Analyzing that and reading further, the reader realizes Jon Snow really didn't know anything other than the side of the world he was raised in.

It was then I realized the reason it agitated me was because I know only the things from the world (environment) I live in. And that in reality and in the grand scheme of things I know nothing.

I can resist what life throws at me, but then life whoops my butt anyway. Once I accept that I got my butt whooped, I seem to learn and remember the lesson that much better. So perhaps I am getting the education that I am paying for with my sore back end. Unfortunately, I fear I have many more payments to make on my student loans.
