Haha, wish I could take conscious credit.
The best I can figure out is I heard about the book, "The Wisdom of Psychopaths: What Saints, Spies, and Serial Killers Can Teach Us About Success" and heard some of my friends interpreting this book as giving a case for emulating psychopathic behavior to achieve success.
I displayed psychopathic traits when I was younger. I've worked hard to be more empathetic so I could function in society and not cause hardship for loved ones. So, the idea that psychopathic traits can award success in life really grinds my gears.

Thanks for suggesting this... I wonder if 'five' symbolized a pentagram. The "Jokers" were standing in an orientation of the five points. I had a second dream similar to this one except instead of the Joker it was "the devil" presiding over a game where everyone was wearing frightful masks. I told the devil that he must have some love for people to create games for them to play. Dare I say the devil has a soft spot? This set him off, and he stopped the game and murdered the participants with a knife. I escaped unharmed, somewhat confounded and amused that he took me so seriously.
The character of these dreams reminds me of Mephistopheles from Faust.
