All types of stone I find as interesting material. I especially like the banded slate which can be found in the Appalachian Mountains. Although somewhat brittle and tricky to work with, the finished piece is particulary beautiful. Further southwest into these same mountains, near and in Tennessee, I've found an olive colored pipestone that was once used by the mound builders. Different types including Catlinite and the green marbled with white varities were imported over great distances as trade items. There is an abundance of steatite near me which was also traded.

Buffalo Man walking stick. Mountain Ash. Handle and arrowhead inlay are made from antler.

Yes....I have materials too, but I can't make that LOL Where did you learn the craft?

Passed down from the ancestors. It has always been in me. Just as my children have it within them.
