Book1 Science and the Pineal Gland

Many of us know that opening our third eye has a lot to do with the pineal gland. A lot of people talk about ways to open the third eye and how to decalcify the pineal gland in order to hone in on their intuition and have fun and cool paranormal experiences, however, I am interested in learning more about its function from a scientific perspective. I am trying to be my own doctor in a sense, or rather trying to get to the root cause of a variety of physical symptoms I have had for some time now that have only gotten worse while on my spiritual journey. Some refer to this as “ascension symptoms”, but I would like a more tangible explanation.

Through much research of my own and visits to a few different medical specialists as well as holistic doctors, I’m starting to draw my own conclusions that these various symptoms can all be traced back to the pineal gland and how it works in conjunction with the hypothalamus and other brain parts. Mind you, I have yet to visit a neurologist because I don’t have health insurance and before I waste even more time and out of pocket money on various “specialists”, I would like to be as educated as possible.

Here are a few links I’ve come across so far, some scientific and some with a spiritual undertone:

https://upliftconnect.com/detoxify-your-pineal-gland/

https://humanoriginproject.com/funct...-pineal-gland/

https://angel4light.wordpress.com/20...ye-is-opening/

The human origin project site I listed above is more scientific and it seems the functions of the pineal gland directly relate to the various physical symptoms I have.

Does anyone out there have a bit more they can share on their experience, research or expertise? Or even keep this going as a conversation with anything useful or worth mentioning?

More to share on their exp?

Nothing big.

It's just an everyday 'thing' to meditate on the Third Eye - I mean gee.
That's where Jacob saw God face to face *Gen 30* something...and then He called the place Peniel...I mean,
can't get much clearer!
The whole Universe and beyond this Universe (I mean for me the "Other Side", or 'astral', I guess;
where we go after 'here', can be seen and visited...similar to an NDE experience.)

I have nothing much to offer, it's like a farmer's horse sense.... there
is the seat of the Light brighter than 10,000 suns, ie, God. Period...
So sit, be still and exp it for yourselves, ya know?

There's no mystery - who cares about what science knows or doesn't know yet?

Thanks for sharing Miss Hepburn. I suppose what I was aiming for in my post was to learn about how the two aspects of the pineal gland work together...the scientific part (how it controls hormones, the very physical sense of it) and how it coincides with all the mystical and spiritual aspects of it... If having spiritual experiences affects the physical aspects it’s responsible for as a gland.

The Pineal Gland works in conjunction with the Pituitary Gland to regulate the production of hormones and the proper function of the whole endocrine system, including our circadian rhythms, homeostasis, adaptogenic functions and various stimulations of the parasympathetic nervous system.

The Pineal Gland is known as the "Third Eye" because it is comprised of rod and cone cells just like the physical eyes are and is connected to the visual cortex via certain nerves...the function of which is to convert melatonin (a light-sensitive hormone) into di-methyl tryptamine and other noortropic neurotransmitters and the precursors thereof for healing various ailments due to environmental factors.

The best way to illustrate this, is to go to bed as soon as the sun sets and to wake up as soon as the sun rises for ultimate and optimum benefit for healing the Adrenal Glands and indeed, the whole nervous system.

Many people believe that going to sleep at 6-7pm and waking at 4-5am is ridiculous, so they won't do it...but the optimum time for the pineal gland to produce melatonin/DMT is between 8pm-12am in a totally dark/black room with limited to absolutely no sensory input which can disturb the function of the Pineal Gland because all of the senses have been withdrawn into themselves (pratyahara)... flotation tanks work in the same way to stimulate the pineal gland.

There is more I will add a bit later and I could post links about it...but I am just summarizing everything I have ever read on the subject, so "my word for it" is going to have to suffice for now.

Thank you Shivani. Would you happen to know how taking the melatonin as a supplement would affect the body’s natural production of melatonin? It’s become trendy as an “all natural sleep aid” and I’m curious if taking it in pill form does more damage than good.

3-5 am is when most pineal gland is most active and produced most melatonin, or so I read in book by the foremost scientists studying melatonin at that time. 1990's.

A few things I would like to add to this Pineal Gland discussion. Since this isn't an academic paper, I won't quote sources, but I can provide some on request. I'm mostly working from memory here, as some of the relevant books I've read decades ago.

Shivani mentioned the production of DMT by the Pineal Gland, which is very relevant. The Pine Cone is the symbol of the Pineal and Holy Water is the symbol of DMT, otherwise known as Soma/Ambrosia/Nectar, or the food of the gods in other words. In Mesopotamia, priests used a pine cone to sprinkle holy water from a bucket on devotees to symbolise its role in illumination. This ritual survives to some extent in Christianity and the Pope has a staff with a pine cone on top for this reason.

Mesopotamian reliefs that depict this ritual will usually show the Tree of Life (the human body's energetic system), with the king on either end of it, and eagle-headed and winged protector spirits performing the Holy Water sprinkling ritual with the pinecone, as the Sun God, Utu-Shamash hovers above in a winged disk. Some of the symbolism has been lost over the millennia, but some of it remains relevant even to modern audiences. You can see an excellent example of one of these reliefs in the British Museum if you are ever passing by, it's worth a look.

These are the two authors from their 1996 book on Melatonin that I read when it came out. I presume more info has come out since. I dunno.
