My understanding from spiritual masters is that sitting in a disciplined posture at definite time (preferably morning) at definite place with definite form of a deity (seeker is free to choose any form of his/her liking ) over a prolonged period in a peaceful environment gives perfect and quicker results .

In view of above standards my practice has been poor . But I also accept that spirituality being domain of consciousness (awake / sleep / dream ) which everybody has in sufficient measure , people may still accomplish spiritual understanding & enlightenment with other approaches (including practicing meditation in bed ) if practiced in a conscious manner over longer period with discipline and honesty .

One thing that i've learned about me,is that i can't reach my inner self well, when sunlight enters my eyes.It affects my consiousness.

I've read that sunlight is killing magnetism. Also most of my spells-attempts to manifest things, were succesful only at night time.

I also noticed many times that meditating in the sun makes it difficult to go deep within but for me, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the eyes because wearing sunglasses and a hat doesn't help. It seems direct sunlight on the body hinders the deep meditation process. Have you experienced this?

Life is so short, so why not also learn to use to explore lucidity in sleep? We do spend about a third of our lives in that state. An interesting approach on that level is Dream Yoga. Norbu in his book Dream Yoga and the practice of Natural Light gives some nice indications about it.

Regards,

As you indicated in your post, "why not also learn to explore lucidity in sleep"? I have done that for years and find it very illuminating.

I agree with you that, for those who have a "deity of his/her liking", the devotional meditation is indeed very effective.

As the Sufi Master Hazrat Inayat Khan once said, "The ideal is the means; breaking it is the goal".

Hello SilentDrum,

Instead of trying to jump directly in the ''world'' behind the crown chakra when the body is exposed to the sun, did you try to jump instead in the ''world'' behind the bindu in the hearth chakra?

The sun those hide the void in the night sky, but a blue sky is also beautiful.

Regards,

Freedom to have deity of one liking also includes freedom not to have one as long as the core process happens and the goal is being accomplished .

Insistence of Indian scriptures on deity is from a learning perspective from very small age as a habit for all . People with little education/time/inclination /means find deity more comfortable for meditation. At the same time there is clear expectation that one goes beyond idol and experience the consciousness at large (Cosmic soul / super soul) in one's meditation.

So yes , we are one in our goal & even means.
