Hi Old Chap and sky too much to quote, sorry.

Just wanted to comment on how ego is not all bad.
Picture a little boy diving off a dock,
he jumps up beaming so big with pride and joy , "Mom! Did you see that!??"

And, ego can judge with kindness, yes...and with clarity.
The ego can 'judge' what is not nice to do to another.
Judging with quick condemnation, no compassion, not seeing both sides, the Bigger Picture...
well, is not a great thing. imo.

It's about a judgment of worthiness, and not about discerning what's right and wrong. Today I got home to find some nincompoop had driven his truck across my nature strip and ruined the lawn. I know someone who does that is inconsiderate and what they did is wrong. I can't mow that place with huge tyre ruts, and I can't imagine the kind of person who'd do that, but there are many like him, and this isn't the first time. I can ascertain that this person is a bit of a prick, but it's not my job to value his worth, so I just fix the place up - no biggie.

Try putting some 2ft stakes in the lawn every few metres across the centre of it and paint the tops white with a PLEASE DO NOT PARK sign on it….you can get them in Bunnings cheaply enough. Maybe that might help.

No perceivable Vanilla Slice can be the perfect Vanilla Slice, yet all perceivable Vanilla Slices in the mind can be judged to be closer to or further from the perfect Vanilla Slice.

That which is the Perfect Vanilla Slice cannot be expressed in the world of imperfection, only lesser expressions of it.

Vanilla Slice must be a UK thing or term. I live in USA and have no idea what that is. I'm guessing a slice of vanilla cake? In the USA stores like Walmart sell that as "vanilla cake square" as most single serving cake in the USA is sold from flat squares of cake that are then sliced into small squares. I searched on "vanilla slice" on their web site and nothing came up with that name. Closest match was vanilla cake square. First thing I thought of from the term "vanilla slice" was a vanilla version of a slice soda.

Ego's in the UK live in a different reality than ego's in the USA! It's funny, if vanilla slice means cake as I have still no idea, but words and phrases can have different meanings depending on where you live. So even the word "ego" or "aversion" will probably have different meanings depending on where you live.

I think anything can be a manifestation of our own ego. From a war to a wedding proposal. Helping the poor or robbing a bank. But I think everything does not have to be a manifestation of ego. I think one can transcend ego to various degrees.
