Star of Bethlehem using Kepler's equations
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exmbuX1NffU
This explains scientifically what that bright light was 'back then' - not a 'star' at all.
Also, shows the sky in that area during other events...using equations
NASA uses today - for ex ---sending a probe out into space to land TEN yrs later on a speeding asteroid successfully - the Rosetta project.
Absolutely amazing docu movie.
Thanks Nameless for all your links!!! :)

This is a good one.
I enjoyed the way it was explained.

Hah! I'm halfway through the presentation and I played around with Stary Night when I first got my telescope but settled on using Stellarium on my PC to plot my nightly observing sessions.

I bet you'll be the only one that watches it.
Not my first rodeo. *shrug*
And thank you, buddy.

I'm a nerd and amateur astronomer to boot. LOL!
That's another archetype that's strong with me. If I went through all of them I'd say my strongest are sage, jester and anima.

I actually watched it twice because there was so much in it. What amazes me most is the depth and breadth of the research he did into both Biblical study and astronomy. Herculean indeed! The man was on a mission.
Stary Night is also a cool tool as is the tool I use on my PC (Stellarium). I plug in my latitude, longitude and elevation and I'm good to go. I can project backwards and forwards, though I never tested how far in either direction, but considering it uses standard formulas of celestial mechanics... I just tested it and went back to the year -2 (BC!). LOL!

Miss Hepburn,
That was a fascinating account. Thank you for providing it for study. I wonder how the speaker would have used the software to follow up on the following story?

Hmmm.... Perhaps if one wishes to truly see the Star of Bethlehem, then equations, of any sort, are not the best tool to use.
