Friendship reading

I pulled the 5 of cups and the ten of swords as a clarifier when I asked my cards to describe someone's friendship with someone.

Both cards to me suggest there is a loss and pain involved. I placed the clarifier to the right of the 5 of cups. I looked at the cards together, and it looked like the man in on the 5 of cups card had turned his back on the man in the other card. Both people seem to be hurting, but the cards both have an association with all hope not being lost. I don't know if they'll ever be friends again. Maybe they won't, but both need to look to the future as they can both still be happy.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Good analysis, the pictures seem to have sparked your intuition.
Could it be the person in 5 of Cups is hurt by something the other friend did and is so busy 'sulking' about it they are failing to see the other person is needing their help.
Or the cards are saying 'what's done is done' stop overthinking it and move on.
Obviously you know the situation but that's a couple of ways to look at it.

Disappointed that it's come to an end.

Hi both,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Awakened Queen, yes, I think both parties are as disappointed as each other. One person walked away from another and they are both hurting.

Pisces Moon, it could be either one of your interpretations, actually. One friend was hurt by the other, and yes, the other person has been going through a difficult period. The person in the 5 of cups did tell the other person that they would be there if they really, really needed them, but they also made it clear that they didn't want to be friends as such anymore. The person in the 5 of cups doesn't know how to get over what happened. They're getting on with their life and still having a laugh, but it's too hard for them to continue to be friends with the other person.

The cards might be saying 'what's done is done' yes. I guess the querent will just have to see how it all plays out.
