It intrigued me to watch other videos on the Sami.


I've watched several now and will post some of the ones I like.
Seen one about 1890s Sami taking reindeer herd to Alaska to
help Alaskan Natives raise and herd them.
Their Sami ancestors are still living up there in Alaska.

To my other grandmother, Sun was/is a Goddess (i.e. she) – who gave the Spider a thread so it can move between Earth and Sky/Heaven. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/e0/fc...7b89c1bcb0.jpg

The function of the mother deity (on the left) standing on a spider-like animal is marked by solar symbols – a circle on her forehead or an additional female mask above her head and sometimes even a mask on her chest.

But then again, this other gran, - according to some Saami relatives - would have gotten her deity from the Komi/Udmurt reindeer herder ancestry who moved into Lapland and at one point married Saami.

My nondual gran was related to a Valkeapää family, (& sounds like it is the same one) but she held the Eagle to be central to her worldview & not the Central Sun:

I had seen something about a bigger Elk than the Moose.

I like studying them more and more since they keep revealing
things I did not notice before. They remind me of nature,
the more you settle into it the more it reveals.

I am wondering if 1 c is depicting Thunderbirds on the sides??
If not thunderbirds then Goose or Crane becuase of the straight beeks?
Also I will guess 1c is depicting Badger or Wolverine on the bottom
but just guessing...
1 c The 5 skulls on top I would say it depicts the ancestors.
1 c It looks to me Thunderbird heads(4) that surround the central
main head with curved beeks????

I just noticed picture 2 there is a circle at the
anus of the horse. I would assume this is for the value of the use of the feces in fire and or fire keeping.

I could go on with these all day.

Yeah, I thought that was good.
But then I started thinking … “The Sun, My Father” ?

Hang on … but “Beaivi” (Day, daylight, sun, sunlight) … is a female name.
Which doesn’t mean that some Saami could not have regarded the Central Sun as a Father … instead of a Mother … (I just took it for granted that the Sun is female).

Since the Drum is a cognitive map – for me the Centre is the World Pole (nailed in Pole Star) with the Eagle on top. But for Saami it is the Central Sun. In practice though it mounts to the same thing.

The drums of the Sâmes shamans depict their mythical representation of the world. These cosmologies are featured around a central sun, based on a sacred, tripartite model. These veritable cognitive maps are used during shamanistic trances.
