The Doors took their name from the book by Aldous Huxley 'The Doors of Perception', in which he describes his experiences after experimenting with Mescalin.
His account of a new view of the cosmos edges almost on cosmic consciousness without actually transcending into cc.
He immediately followed this up by writing 'Heaven and Hell' an attempt to describe the cosmos as a place fluctuating with experiences.
It's well worth getting his book(s), they give wonderful insight into the part of the universe we don't see as our brains restrict any expansion of consciousness which we would like to see.
