Preston Sturges' The Great McGinty (1940)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_McGinty

The Great McGinty is a 1940 political satire comedy film written and directed by Preston Sturges, starring Brian Donlevy and Akim Tamiroff and featuring William Demarest and (in her final screen appearance) Muriel Angelus. It was Sturges's first film as a director; he sold the story to Paramount Pictures for just $10 on condition he direct the film. Sturges received an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

The Spiderwick Chronicles.

Interesting story and setting, but then the end was rather abrupt and many things were unexplained...
Considering the movie wasn't even 1,5 hour I think it had room for way more.

Wasted potential.
6/10.

The Mind Benders
British-made sci-fi film from the early 1960s. Quite good, makes you think and has some disturbing scenes produced almost exclusively through sound. If you watch it, you'll see (or hear) what I mean.

Here's a blurb from Wikipedia on the synopsis:

Quote:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mi...ers_(1963_film)

Professor Sharpey (Harold Goldblatt), working in a university research laboratory, is suspected of passing secrets to the Soviet Union, and commits suicide. British intelligence believe that this was due to shame over his betrayal of his country. His former colleague, Doctor Longman (Dirk Bogarde), believes that the sensory deprivation experiments that Sharpey was conducting on himself may have rendered him susceptible to brainwashing. He volunteers to undergo the same tests in order to prove his theory. The British Intelligence officer and a colleague decide to test the theory by trying to brainwash him against his much loved wife.

The last movie I watched was 'How to Train your Dragon' (2010) produced by Dreamworks. The Movie was worked on by Chris Sanders who also worked on 'Lilo and Stitch ' Disney's 2002 animated film.
Hiccup a Norse Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed. Long ago up North on the Island of Berk. He wants to join his town's fight against the dragons that continually raid their town.
