Is there such a thing as white and black magick?

Some tell me that magic is magic and that you can’t separate it to white and black. Also I was told that the intention is important when casting spells. And then there are others who say there is white and black magic as in good and bad.

Anyway my question is what do you think about how to divide magic if that’s so.

Love and thanks

intention is big

I believe white and black

I don't try to blend them together and say they don't exist

good witch bad witch ~ I believe in concreteness, things are what they are

maybe the lines would be blurred in a war where you were using both

In old grimoires (ie 1600s), a practitioner divides black and white magic. According to that, black magic means a practitioner summons Goetic demons to carry out a spell. White magic means that you summon an archangel to carry out a spell. These beings obviously have different energies and different capabilities. A demon is more likely to cause harm to people in order to carry out the task, whereas an archangel will most likely help to improve a situation without causing harm to people.

Fast forward to our time. For some reason unknown to me, black and white magic now has racist undertones. With that in mind, magic can be called baneful/maleficent and beneficial. In that way, magic is neutral until a practitioner decides what kind of a spell s/he wants then the spell can be called beneficial or baneful. Not every practitioner gets involved with such entities.

Forgot to say this.

Intention, whether you make it intense or not, is important and begins when crafting a spell and carries through during the casting. Another important factor is to remain focused on what you're doing and you might want to add emotion for more energy. There's more to spellcraft than what I mentioned.

It is all about intention, as you said.

"Black" is often used to describe the unknown. And the unknown and uncertain, the incontrollable, are often feared and demonized.

Some black magick uses blood. Is it really bad if you use that in a self-love working for yourself? I would say not, as the intention is pure and focused on the self.

There are pros and cons to all things. What side of each thing you play on determines whether something is good or bad. But generally not the thing itself.

Hello

No sure on the use of the word "magic" more I feel that a lot of the times its intention and what comes out of that context.

Yes there is a Light and a Dark that much I do so feel is real. Now to me this is Karma at play dealing out the lessons you have to learn and grow from in life.

I learned this the hard way when I was 21 and had my Near Death Event happen to me. I could well have lost my life that night a mere few inch or so and I might well be paralyzed or dead. That slight tilt of the head changed the course of my life.

I know well that I was given a lesson event ! That I had the choice not to go forwards in the darkness I was playing in. That I learned what aspects of it I needed to know but not needed to work with in full on doing it.

So I always say careful what one wishes for and what one toys with as it just might hold a nasty bite !

Lynn

Magic is the world of illution add a spell to the mix and you have or a hex or curse and you then open the door to karma being in the game of life and maybe death.

Intentional harm through rituals etc. is usually considered ''black magic''.

Yes I would say Aleister Crowley is a good example of black magic, it’s ok to balance both dark and light like Iv previously explained as a ying yang, but for Aleister Crowley he chose the dark side only.

Black and white - and grey - are easy symbols and goes easy on the tongue. I feel it is more precise to refer to positive and negative, as it is easier to understand a big negative or barely positive energy. The way I see it the negative is malice in all its forms, while positive is something done with good intention. Some things will remain best described as grey or somewhere in the middle. Someone mentioned chaos; I don't fully agree as good things can happen randomly and some horrible things have been done in a most orderly way. If one soldier kills another in a war, is it black or white or grey? If the soldier kills to save himself or his mate it is hardly an evil act. Same if he attacks the enemy. I think it is mostly grey. But if the soldier sacrifices himself to save another it is a white or positive act, while if the soldier takes joy in killing an enemy soldier or doing so in an extra cruel way it is a negative act.

I do not want to use what I have been gifted with to harm others. Be it spiritually or with more worldly means. Still I understand that some will choose the grey or the black path, but that don't mean I will not stand in their way if I have to.
