The new version of the NIV translates this in a helpful way……”did not consider equality with God something to be used to his advantage”…….clearly asserting the position of Jesus(equal with God).
Furthermore, from the OT….Isaiah 9:6….referring to Jesus…..”And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace…”. This in every way asserts the validity of the Trinity…….

God preserved all of Jesus teachings in every translation on earth--John 17:3--This means eternal life, their knowing you( Father) THE ONLY TRUE GOD and the one whom you sent forth Christ Jesus--2 major truths-1)The Father is the only true God-2) The only true God sent another he did not come down here.
Jesus didnt lie at John 17:3--Errors translated in contradict his truth. Twisting things to match dogma contradict Jesus.
