By design as humans our perception is very limited to start with.
While we are immersed in the vast grand whole multi-dimensional reality, what we could perceive is just a very tiny part of that whole reality we call 3d/4d.
Some have said our reality is not real, and they are right because it is not the whole reality with physics and concepts that we are unaware of.
All of our human intelligence, logic, knowledge, and experiences are from this 3d/4d part of reality. But for us to advance spiritually to become more multi-dimensional we have to drop many or all of our 3d/4d way of thinking.
And so spiritual teachings that say we need to empty our minds or be in emptiness, then perhaps it means to clear away our human 3d/4d intelligence and logic which greatly hinder our spiritual growth.
Take for example, everything in this universe regardless of mass or density rotates around the center of the universe at a constant speed. That alone totally contradicts our well established Newtonian Laws of Physics.
To empty our minds to be open to new perspectives of what is happening within us, around us, and beyond us that will be very hard for us to accept or believe when we continue to hold on to our 3d/4d way of thinking.
As for yearning for materialistic things and possessions, there is nothing wrong with that if it brings us benevolent joy and happiness.
Just like there is nothing bad about money. What could be bad is our intention or the way we make money that causes harm to others and disrespect life.
Without money for shelter, food, and clothing we will be completely focused on surviving which is the realm of our ego, and not so much on spiritual growth to love.
All the best!
