Significance of the full moon in spiritual development

Today appears to be a full moon day, which is considered a good time to practice spiritual exercises and meditation in various religious traditions.

I had found this article by spiritual master Choa Kok Sui ( founder of Modern Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga), which similarly cites the benefits of meditation and spiritual practice during the full moon.

Quote:
In fact, during full moon, everything will be magnified, good and bad. Therefore, full moon can be both viewed as a time of crisis as well as a time of opportunity. ~ Choa Kok Sui
As more than sixty percent of the human body is water, it is possible that the moon is bound to have an influence on the body. Tides are higher during full moon nights.
Quote:
It depends on our overall state and activity during the full moon day to cultivate its positive or negative effects.Spiritual practitioners in this case, use the magnifying effects of the full moon to deepen their spiritual practice and meditation and to be of greater help to humanity. ~ Choa Kok Sui
I used to wonder over the significance of the full moon in spiritual practice, and I suppose this may be the rationale behind it.

It's Easter and Ramadan also, so definitely the benefits of meditating today, and in the next days, will be greater than usual !

All through the year you can also follow the Indian festivals.

Ah didn't know, thx. In French we call it "Jewish Easter", I thought it was at the same time as the Christian Easter.

The energy definitely gets amplified. Full moons in the past have revealed to me energetic and belief issues that I was ignoring and needed to release and stop repeating. So I saw them as gifts despite the inner turmoil they created. I released many for years, so I find moons to be more pleseant now.

The esoteric teachings of Alice Bailey place special significance on the full moons, in particular the full moons of Aries, Taurus and Gemini. These are times when the Spiritual Hierarchy which oversees human development sends much needed spiritual energy to Humanity.

So we have the Christian festival of Easter based on the full moon in Aries.

Followed by the Buddhist festival of Wesak based on the full moon in Taurus.

Followed by the festival of Goodwill for Humanity based on the full moon in Gemini.

For esotericists Wesak is the high point of the spiritual year when forces of enlightenment flow from the higher worlds into the mind of Humanity.

Peace

imo, for already-energetic people, full moons bring over-energized chaos. For somewhat low-energy people like me, full moons are the one time I'm truly at "full strength." I've always been a "full moon person."

The moon in general effects the ocean tides here on Earth, and it also effects the water in our physical body. We, our physical body, is 2/3rds water just like the Earth, and a full moon has more of an effect on us and the water in this world then a partial moon.

Further, we are like the Sun and the Moon; we radiate energy like the sun and reflect that energy like the moon, we also wax and wane like the moon, manifesting different moods, etc. The Sun represents gold and the moon represents silver, they form an alchemy which sustains life on Earth.

We have our own solar system within us, influences that revolve around us and we are the central sun in our own solar system. In this way we are truly one with the universe as we emulate its features. Astrology speaks of our inner solar system and what influences are prominent within us, but a spiritually developed person can reflect all of the Zodiac influences and the planets equally.

As a former ambulance paramedic, I can say that there is definitely more ambulance and police emergency calls during a full moon, and this full moon chaos has been prevalent for centuries. It is an increased energy which some can handle and others can not.

So glad to hear those comments Starman cos I’ve often wondered why I have trouble sleeping when there is a full moon. I’m agitated and restless.

These comments give me some understanding now. Thank you.

Thank you everyone for your valuable inputs, and am glad that some have found this thread insightful and helpful.

The full moon for this month May is on fifth, today.

The lunar calendar is used in Islam, and importance is attached to the new moon as well as the full moon.

https://islamonline.net/en/the-bless...unar-calendar/

Quote:
Traditional moon wisdom states that on the day of the New Moon the body’s capacity for detoxification is at its highest. This is a time, tradition says, to make healthy lifestyle changes, break bad habits and withdraw symptoms of imbalance. This is in complete synchronization with the fact that the prophet used to fast on the days of the full moon, saying, “It is like fasting the whole year.”
